Multiple options to renew for this profession and state.
Athletic Trainers have two options related to licensure renewal:
  • All licensed athletic trainers must be in good standing with and provide documentation of current certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (BOC) or a nationally recognized credentialing agency, accepted by the board. 
  • All athletic trainers holding current Idaho registration/licensure who are not certified by the national athletic trainers’ association board of certification or a nationally recognized credentialing agency, accepted by the board, are required to provide documentation of successful completion of eighty (80) hours of board approved continuing educational units during each three (3) year reporting period on forms provided by the board.
Special Requirements
BOC requires fifty (50) credit hours every reporting period and Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification.

Licensed Midwives shall earn ten (10) contact hours of continuing education every year for licensure renewal.
Special Requirements
  • Two (2) of these hours must be in peer review participation as described in Subsection
  • 102.02*. *Subsection 102.02: Peer Review System: Each licensed midwife must participate in peer review activities for a minimum of two (2) hours per year to enable licensed midwives to retrospectively present and review cases in an effort to further educate themselves about the appropriateness, quality, utilization, and ethical performance of midwifery care.
  • The subject material of the continuing education must pertain to the practice of midwifery and be either acceptable to NARM as counting towards recertification of a licensed midwife as a CPM or otherwise approved by the Board.

Continuing Education Requirements for renewing an APRN license include completing 30 contact hours of continuing education during the renewal period, which shall include 10 contact hours in pharmacology if the nurse has prescriptive authority. Contact hours will be prorated for APRNs whose initial license was issued midway into a renewal period (e.g. a new graduate whose initial license is valid for 1 year is required to attest to 15.0 contact hours of continuing education and 5.0 contact hours in pharmacology-related content).

Idaho CCI Credentialed Specialists

A credential is active for 9-12 months after passing a CCI exam. For the first renewal, CCI credential holders must submit the renewal fee and a signature of compliance with the Code of Ethics.  
  • There are no Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements for the first renewal. 
Following the first renewal, maintenance of an “active status” for CCI credential holders requires the completion of the following three steps every three years, on the anniversary of the first renewal date: 
  1. The submission of renewal fees.
  2. Signature of compliance with the CCI Code of Ethics.
  3. The completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
    • Certificate-Level (CCT and CRAT): sixteen (16) CEUs.
    • Advanced-Level (ACS): thirty-six (36) CEUs.
    • Registry-Level (RCES, RCIS, RCS, RCCS, RPhS, and RVS): thirty-six (36) CEUs.
Advanced and registry-level credential holders must complete thirty (30) cardiovascular-related CEUs. The remaining 6 or fewer CEUs can be on any topic.

Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS):
  • Thirty-six (36) contact hours of continuing education every three years for licensure renewal.
  • Thirty (30) cardiovascular-related CEUs. 
  • The remaining six (6) or fewer CEUs can be on any topic.
Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT):
  • Sixteen (16) contact hours of continuing education every three years for licensure renewal.
Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT):
  • Sixteen (16) contact hours of continuing education every three years for licensure renewal.
Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS):
  • Thirty-six (36) contact hours of continuing education every three years for licensure renewal.
  • Thirty (30) cardiovascular-related CEUs.
  • The remaining six (6) or fewer CEUs can be on any topic.
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES):
  • Thirty-six (36) contact hours of continuing education every three years for licensure renewal.
  • Thirty (30) cardiovascular-related CEUs.
  • The remaining six (6) or fewer CEUs can be on any topic.
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS):
  • Thirty-six (36) contact hours of continuing education every three years for licensure renewal.

Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS):
