Course Description:
This course discusses the comprehensive management of cerebrovascular accident (CVA), focusing on the critical importance of time-sensitive interventions. It covers the various types of stroke (ischemic and hemorrhagic), their underlying causes, and key risk factors. The course places significant emphasis on the rapid recognition of stroke symptoms using standardized tools, such as the FAST acronym and the Cincinnati Prehospital Stroke Scale. It details the process of acute diagnosis through imaging and outlines acute treatment strategies such as thrombolytic therapy (tPA) and mechanical thrombectomy. Essential medical and nursing management in the acute phase, post-stroke care, complication prevention, and the vital role of interdisciplinary rehabilitation are also addressed. The course includes real-world case studies and promotes interprofessional collaboration to enhance the ability of healthcare professionals to provide safe, effective, and timely care to CVA patients, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
