Course Description:
This course discusses the more common and important causes of traumatic spinal cord disorders. This course will consist of the risk factors, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prognostic outcomes of traumatic spinal cord injuries and conditions.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know how to identify the most common causes of non-traumatic spinal cord injuries.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Explain the clinical assessment of a patient with suspected cauda equina.
- Compare and contrast the four regions of the spinal cord.
- Analyze the cross-sectional anatomy of the spinal cord.
- Identify types of vascular malformations of the spinal cord.
- Interpret differential diagnoses for various non-traumatic spinal cord dysfunctions.
- Determine symptoms of a spinal cord lesion based on location.
