Course Description:
This course discusses foundational knowledge of dry needling. It is not a certification course to perform dry needling.
Outcomes
≥ 92% of participants will know what dry needling is, how it is used to treat myofascial pain, indications for utilization, basic dry needling techniques, and safety considerations when using dry needling.
Objectives
After completing this course, the participant will be able to meet the following objectives:
- Define dry needling.
- Differentiate the philosophical differences between dry needling and acupuncture.
- Examine the role of trigger points in myofascial pain and how dry needling is utilized in treating trigger points.
- Compare dry needling techniques.
- Evaluate the indications for including dry needling in a treatment plan and its efficacy for various musculoskeletal pain disorders.
- Summarize the safety considerations related to dry needling.
- Examine the legal considerations related to dry needling in healthcare practice.
