Course Description:

This course discusses safe practices for Medication Aides to prevent the spread of infection while administering medications to residents.

Outcomes:

 92% Participants will know the principles to prevent the spread of infection during medication administration.

Objectives:

After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:

1. Discuss modes of transmission of infectious pathogens.
2. Identify Antibiotic-Resistant Organisms.
3. Describe prevention of Exposure to Infectious Pathogens.
4. Describe the development and maintenance of a safe environment.
5. Compare methods of disinfection in ambulatory care, home care, and the home.
6. Discuss engineering and environmental controls.
7. Describe selected issues in infection control and prevention: diseases and conditions.
8. Define responses to occupational exposure to hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV.
9. Identify prevention of Monkeypox.
10. Discuss current response to COVID-19.
11. Describe sepsis awareness and education.
