Course Description:
This course, specifically designed to meet Oregon’s requirements, discusses cultural competency, including cultural competence in healthcare, health equity, and the impact of implicit bias.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know how to practice culturally competent care.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Define cultural competence in healthcare.
- Outline shared fundamental factors of culture, including personal variables.
- Identify goals of health equity.
- Describe the impact of bias and racism in healthcare.
- Summarize effective communication principles to utilize with stakeholders, other providers, and patients.
