Course Description:
This course discusses Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD), including definitions, how these diagnoses differ from normal aging, and possible causes of ADRD. Communication strategies, behavior management techniques, strategies for assisting with activities of daily living, and skills for working with families and caregivers are also discussed.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know how to effectively care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Explain the differences between Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD).
- Outline strategies for successful communication skills for persons with ADRD.
- Summarize behavior management skills for persons with ADRD.
- Determine approaches for assisting individuals with ADRD with their activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Identify skills for working with families and caregivers.
