Course Description:
This course discusses temperature regulation, the definition of fever, pathophysiology of fever, and evidence-based methods of fever reduction. This course will also compare the strategies for fever between neonate and older adults.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know the current evidence-based information and treatment related to fever.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the mechanisms of temperature regulation in the human body.
- Analyze the pathophysiology of fever initiation.
- Evaluate the limitations and benefits of various body temperature measurement methods.
- Identify evidence-based methods of fever reduction.
- Compare evaluation and treatment strategies for fever between neonates and older adults.
- Summarize common non-infection causes of infection.
