Course Description:
This course discusses post-traumatic stress disorder pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment options. A case study is used to demonstrate linear progression of treatment.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know the current evidence related to post-traumatic stress disorder, risk factors, and treatment options.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to meet the following objectives:
- Recognize three risk factors associated with the development of PTSD.
- Analyze the areas of the brain that are impacted by traumatic events.
- Identify three clinical manifestations and co-occurring conditions of PTSD.
- Evaluate three symptoms and proper diagnosis criteria of PTSD.
- Compare three ways a child might exhibit symptoms differently than an adult after a traumatic event.
- Outline a minimum of 3 different treatment options available for PTSD and possible side effects of treatment.
