Course Description:
This course discusses the indicators of child abuse, the impact of trauma and ACEs, the influence of implicit bias, and how to report.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know how to identify and respond appropriately to child abuse.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Define child abuse.
- Outline the impact of trauma on children and the importance of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC).
- Appraise the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on children and families.
- Identify the mitigating effects of the five protective factors on trauma.
- Criticize the impact of bias on decision-making.
- Recognize the indicators associated with child abuse.
- Evaluate situations to determine reasonable cause to suspect child abuse.
