Course Description: 

This course discusses pelvic floor conditions as they relate to the perinatal period, male pelvic health, urinary, bowel, and pelvic organ system, and common pelvic pain conditions. 

Outcomes:

≥ 92% of participants will know the signs and symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, how to effectively screen for pelvic floor dysfunction, and foundational treatment concepts. 

Objectives:

After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to meet the following objectives: 

  1. Outline screening tactics to identify signs and symptoms related to pelvic floor dysfunction. 
  2. Evaluate the need for a comprehensive approach to pelvic rehab. \
  3. Identify pertinent anatomy and physiology related to pelvic floor dysfunction. 
  4. Distinguish between common complaints, their causes, and the treatment of pregnant women. 
  5. Formulate an appropriate post-partum recovery program within your scope of practice. \
  6. Compare and contrast stress incontinence and urge incontinence. 
  7. Recognize subtypes and define symptoms of various pelvic pain conditions. 
  8. Outline how pelvic floor dysfunction may contribute to bowel and gastrointestinal conditions. 
  9. Distinguish key differences between common male and female pelvic health conditions.
