Course Description:
This course discusses health equity. Specific personal and cultural variables are discussed, such as religion. The implications of discrimination and racism and the different types of implicit bias are also reviewed. Importantly, this course discusses how to promote culturally competent care and health equity.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know the importance of health equity, including concepts such as personal and cultural variables and cultural competence.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify important cultural and personal variables.
- Describe the implications of racism.
- Summarize types of implicit bias.
- Outline culturally competent care.
- Determine how to promote health equity.
