Course Description:
This course discusses the prevalence of diabetes, how to differentiate the different types of diabetes, and screening recommendations. It also describes how to effectively plan and deliver diabetes education, based on the ADCES7, to improve the lives of those living with diabetes and reduce diabetes-related complications.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know the significance of diabetes, how to identify the correct type of diabetes, and how to plan and deliver evidence-based, patient-centered diabetes care and education to improve diabetes outcomes.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Determine the incidence and prevalence of diabetes.
- Differentiate between the different types of diabetes.
- Explain why glycemic control is important to diabetes care.
- Identify the four critical times for diabetes education.
- Describe technology used in supporting diabetes management.
- Summarize common barriers that prevent adherence to and compliance with the diabetic treatment regimen.
