Course Description:
A lack of sleep has a negative impact on the body physically and emotionally. It can hurt the quality of life for those suffering from this condition. This course covers the nature of insomnia, how to assess it, and how to manage this problem. This course also discusses pharmacological therapy as well as non-prescription medication methods to help improve sleep.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will report an increase in knowledge regarding assessing and managing insomnia.
Objectives:
After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:
- Define insomnia.
- Summarize common causes of insomnia.
- List four impacts of insomnia on quality of life.
- Outline the steps in the assessment of patients with insomnia.
- Describe four non-pharmacological methods to improve sleep.
- Identify the role of pharmacological therapy in the treatment of insomnia.
