Course Description:
This course comprehensively examines blood clot management strategies. Learners will explore the mechanisms of action of various medications, including anticoagulants, antiplatelets, and fibrinolytics. The course will differentiate between appropriate uses and contraindications for each medication by examining specific clinical scenarios. In addition, the course will address the identification of bleeding risk factors and mitigation strategies, along with the interpretation of common coagulation tests used to monitor therapy effectiveness. This course is designed for healthcare professionals and individuals seeking a deeper understanding of blood clot management.

≥ 92% of participants will know the appropriate use and limitations of various anticoagulant, antiplatelet, and fibrinolytic medications based on mechanisms of action and clinical scenarios.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Analyze the risk factors for bleeding complications in patients receiving anticoagulant or fibrinolytic therapy.
- Evaluate the potential benefits and risks of anticoagulant and fibrinolytic therapy for patients with specific conditions.
- Develop a comprehensive patient education plan on using anticoagulant or fibrinolytic therapy medications safely and effectively.
- Identify four different classes of anticoagulant medications and their mechanisms of action.
