Course Description:
This course discusses the issues/topics of insulin, insulin administration, other injectable diabetes medications, and commonly used oral diabetes medications.
Course Outcome:
≥ 92% of participants will know how to administer diabetes medications safely and effectively.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the mechanism of action of diabetes medications.
- Identify the mechanism of action of insulin.
- List the significant adverse effects of each medication.
- Explain the important considerations of administration of insulin.
- Indicate the precautions and US Boxed warnings for diabetes medications.
- Compare and contrast the indication for use for each medication.
