Course Description:
This course aims to equip nurses with essential skills in psychosocial assessment, enhancing their ability to evaluate and address patients' psychological and social needs. Through practical training and theoretical knowledge, nurses will learn to provide holistic care, fostering improved patient outcomes and promoting overall well-being.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will improve their knowledge of psychosocial assessments.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Describe five components of the psychosocial interview.
- Assess five components of the mental status examination.
- Identify three specialized mental health screening tests.
- Compare and contrast assessment findings noted in patients with depression, bipolar disease, anxiety, and schizophrenia.
- Summarize two major roles the psychologist, primary care provider, and psychiatrist play in managing a mental health patient.
