Course Description:
This course discusses mental health in veterans and their families. Mental health is as important, if not more so, than physical health. Just as our minds and emotions control our bodies, injury to our minds and spirits can lead to loss of control and damage critical life functions. There is no way to emphasize enough the crucial role that mental health and mental healing play in the lives of our military, our veterans, and their families.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will know how to care for veterans and their families.
Objectives:
At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the current state of mental health in military veterans and their families.
- Recognize adjustment disorder.
- Summarize the diagnosis and treatment of stress disorders.
- Outline three factors of importance in managing a client with suicide risks.
- List three symptoms of major depression.
