Course Description:
The course will provide an overview of pharmacology, raise awareness and understanding of the various aspects of pharmacology, and increase the nurse's knowledge base.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will improve their knowledge of pharmacology and knowledge related to medication management.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Relate the ten rules that serve as the standard for legal accountability in drug administration.
- Outline common principles of pharmacokinetics.
- Identify the types of patients who require special consideration when administering drugs.
- Summarize the role of drugs and therapeutic devices in preventing disease and maintaining health.
- Specify the indications and adverse effects of major categories of drugs.
- List common agents included in each category of drugs.
- Identify nursing considerations for each category of drug.
- Describe common drug errors that are avoidable and strategies to avoid them.
