Course Description:
This course discusses pressure injury staging, patient risk factors, risk assessment tools, healthcare provider interventions across a perioperative setting, and potential complications.
Outcomes:
≥92% of participants will know the stages of pressure injuries, risk factors, and interventions to prevent pressure injuries in the perioperative setting.
Objectives:
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
1. Categorize the different stages of pressure injuries.
2. Outline items that are necessary when performing a wound assessment.
3. Identify at least two pressure injury risk assessment screening tools used in a perioperative setting.
4. Compare intrinsic and extrinsic patient risk factors affecting pressure injury development.
5. Examine at least three interventions regarding pressure injury prevention.
6. Identify at least two complications of pressure injuries.
