Course Description:
This course will discuss screen time, which includes any content on any technology platform with a screen, and the mental, physical, and social impact on patients. The course will also provide interventions to mitigate any adverse consequences of social media use.
Outcomes:
≥ 92% of participants will understand both the positive and negative impacts of social media and screen time on children and adolescents.
Objectives:
After completing this course, the participant will be able to:
- Determine Factors of social media use that negatively impact children and adolescents.
- Outline the positive impact of screen time on children and adolescents.
- Summarize the risks of social media and screen time on brain development.
- Evaluate how increased social media use and screen time impacts the mental and physical health of children and adolescents.
- Formulate ways one can advocate and educate families, caregivers, and communities on how to safely use social media and screen time.
