Course Description:
This course discusses the different types of dementia, stages, and symptoms. It also reviews the risk factors and causes of dementia. This course summarizes important aspects of patient care for people with dementia, including behavior management, care activities, patient safety, caregiver strain, and end-of-life care.
Outcomes
≥ 92% of participants will increase their knowledge and confidence regarding caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other related conditions.
Objectives
After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify the different types, stages, and risk factors of dementia.
- Describe at least two strategies for behavioral management when caring for patients with dementia.
- Explain at least two ways to promote activities of daily living in patients with dementia.
- Describe at least two ways to promote patient safety when caring for patients with dementia.
- Describe the different care considerations for patients in the later stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
