Course Description:

This course discusses risk factors, causes, assessment, and evidence-based treatment for postpartum hemorrhage. It also will discuss necessary follow-up care and care that is necessary for family members and caregivers of patients with postpartum hemorrhage.

Outcomes:

≥ 92% of participants will know how to recognize and respond to a postpartum hemorrhage.

Objectives:

After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:

1. Define postpartum hemorrhage.
2. List the risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage.
3. Assess for postpartum hemorrhage risk.
4. Interpret the methods to identify postpartum hemorrhage.
5. Identify how to care for women with postpartum hemorrhage.
6. Explain the medications used to treat postpartum hemorrhage.
7. Determine how to provide care for family members and caregivers following a postpartum hemorrhage.

Course Description:

This course will look at the risk factors and screening tools used to identify women who are at greater risk of abusing drugs. Participants will become familiar with complications that can occur to the woman and infant who abuse drugs and how to care for each of these patients.

Outcomes:

≥ 92% of participants will know how to identify and care for pregnant women with substance use disorder.

Objectives:

After completing this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:

1. Define the terms related to substance use disorder.
2. Determine the screening methods that are used to help identify substance use disorder in pregnant women.
3. List the factors that may indicate possible substance use disorder in women who are pregnant.
4. Identify the possible complications of substance use disorder to the mother and fetus.
5. Describe the treatment for pregnant women with substance use disorder.
6. Examine the appropriate nursing care for the women with substance use disorder during pregnancy.
